GWAS Discoveries for Educational Attainment: What Do They Mean?

Daniel W. Belsky, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Epidemiology & Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

New discoveries from genome-wide association studies are extending beyond biomedical phenotypes to aspects of social behavior and socioeconomic attainment. To translate these discoveries to benefit society, research is needed to understand how DNA comes to be associated with these outside-the-skin social processes and outcomes. This talk will share research into genetic discoveries from GWAS of educational attainment using polygenic scores to investigate pathways of genetic associations within and across generations.
