Ingrid Holm, MD, MPH, Endowed Chair in Genetics and Genomics, Boston Children’s Hospital, Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School
There is growing societal and scientific interest in using genomic sequencing in newborn screening to identify genetic predispositions for disease early in life to prevent or mitigate future illness. Using a randomized controlled trial study design, the BabySeq project studies the psychological impact, medical utility, and cost effectiveness of a model of how genomic sequencing could be integrated into newborn screening. In this talk, Dr. Holm will discuss the BabySeq project and this future vision of newborn screening.
