Oct 19, 2020: Empowering Young People as Decision-Makers in Predictive Mental Health

Ilina Singh, PhD, Professor of Neuroscience & Society, Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford; Co-Director, Oxford Wellcome Centre for Ethics & Humanities

From digital phenotyping to genetic tests for diverse psychiatric and neurological conditions, young people are increasingly engaged in decision-making about the value of predictive mental and cognitive health information. In this talk, I introduce novel tools we have designed to build capacity and agency in young people to empower them as decision-makers. Data collected using these tools sheds new light on young people’s values and preferences in relation to prediction in mental health and wellbeing.
